Namibia
A Land of Contrasts
A land sculpted by the forces of nature, Namibia is as beautiful as it is desolate. Vast open spaces, extraordinary wildlife, and one of the lowest population densities in the world are what make this country the perfect destination for those seeking solitude.
Namibia is a country that will capture your heart, mind, and spirit and will leave you feeling humbled and in awe. It is a journey like no other, as no other place on earth comes close to resembling the stark beauty that is Namibia.
"It’s really beautiful. It feels like God visits everywhere else but lives in Africa."
Will Smith
The Namib desert is one of the oldest and driest deserts in the world. An expansive realm of rugged landscapes, dramatic mountains, and home to the largest nature reserve in Southern Africa. Stretching 530 000 acres across an unspoiled desertscape, the 750 feet high dunes are ever-changing, shaped by the wind, and are breathtaking in their beauty. Amongst the highest in the world, the red sands of Sossusvlei are also home to an array of desert-adapted wildlife.
Sossusvlei is a thriving ecosystem with more life than you would expect in the driest desert in the world. The opportunity to explore the living dunes by foot, quad bike, or e-bike allows you to uncover the secrets of this incredible landscape.
The pristine semi-desert wilderness of Damaraland is home to many rare desert-adapted animals such as lions, elephants, and black rhino. The stark and unyielding landscape offers a beauty that is surreal in nature. The conservation of the black rhino is paramount in this area and what better way to get to experience these elusive giants than by spending a day out with the Save the Rhino tracking unit.
The wild, remote, and sparsely populated Skeleton Coast is a haunting and desolate area on Namibia’s coastline.
Named after the many ships that have run aground, the Skeleton Coast was once used to name the entire coastline but today refers to a stretch of land approximately 25 miles wide by 310 miles in length.
The Kunene river stretches inland from the coast and is an invaluable source of water for the Himba people that still live a traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle in the region.
Namibia is the perfect destination to disconnect from the world but don’t be fooled by the remoteness as there are many experiences that will entice and educate you. A photographer’s and conservationist’s dream destination, Namibia also offers all who venture to its stark lands a truly remarkable experience.
"The desert tells a different story every time one ventures on it."
Robert Edison Fulton Jr.
Immerse yourself in the ecology and conservation of all three areas, indulge in hot air ballooning and stargazing, or become in tune with nature and the culture of this incredible country. With endless skies and horizons, Namibia is a country that you will want to visit again and again.
