Explore South Africa’s culinary capital

Cape Town boasts some of the most majestic and beautiful wine regions in the world. Steeped in history and rich in cultural heritage the Cape Winelands has no shortage of activities for you to experience. From wine tastings at a myriad of wine estates and dining at a plentitude of restaurants to more adventurous activities, the Cape Winelands has it all.

Often described as the Napa Valley of South Africa, the Winelands are formed by a series of small towns linked by majestic mountains and valleys. The most famous being Franschhoek, also the culinary capital of South Africa, Stellenbosch, and Paarl where the Paarl Rock is the second-largest granite outcrop in the world.

A series of generous valleys lying in the shadow of a continuous belt of Cape fold mountains

The mountains surrounding the Winelands not only create an incredible backdrop for the many award-winning estates but are also one of the most important geological reasons why wines do so well in this region. The composition of the soil directly affects the type and quality of wines produced here.

A wide variety of wines are produced in this region from the South African varietal of Pinotage to Bordeaux style blends, Burgundy style pinot noir to the cool and crisp sauvignon blanc rivaling those produced anywhere else in the world.

Experience the Winelands in the company of our Master Sommelier host, one of only 274 worldwide.

He will share his passion for South African wines and extensive knowledge thereof, in collaboration with our network of cellar masters and top winemakers in the country. Allow us to curate a bespoke and authentic wine tasting experience just for you.

Experience new flavours and take your senses to a new level of appreciation. A wine tasting will undoubtedly allow you to immerse yourself in the mesmerising tastes and aromas that make South African wines what they are. You will not be disappointed.

The region is known for farm to table style menus, sustainable organic ingredients with the emphasis being on locally sourced elements

Dining takes on a new dimension in the Winelands, no more so than at Delaire Graff Estate, one to take time to savor. Discover an exclusive celebration of taste, here to enjoy from the first moment to the last. Delight in contemporary menus accompanied by exceptional South African wines, with a focus to produce beautifully crafted food that reflects the best seasonal, ethically locally sourced ingredients. Every plate comes bursting with authenticity and fresh produce.

You may choose to indulge in a little added luxury and take a private scenic helicopter flight to the Winelands. Setting off from the V&A Waterfront you head inland over the Durbanville Wine route towards Stellenbosch and Franschhoek where you land amongst the vineyards for a wine tasting and lunch at one of the award-winning estates.

Alternately, you may decide to extend your stay in Cape Town by adding a few additional nights at one of the boutique hotels found in the Winelands. Here you will find time to explore the quaint towns, relax amongst the vineyards or spend the day being rejuvenated in a spa.

The Winelands has so much more to offer than wine; segway or horseback riding through the vineyards, farm tours, birds of prey, vintage car museums, craft breweries to name just a few. The Cape Winelands truly has it all!
