A lodge in harmony with its landscape
Boulders Lodge was designed to exist in perfect balance with its environment. Inspired by the raw textures of stone, wood, and water, the lodge incorporates open layouts, floor-to-ceiling glass, and locally sourced materials to create an atmosphere of effortless tranquility. Interiors are sophisticated yet unpretentious – featuring neutral palettes, organic forms, and South African artwork.
Originally opened in 1996 and later reimagined with contemporary minimalism in mind, the lodge’s architecture gently complements the surrounding bushveld, offering a space where luxury is defined by harmony and unobtrusive beauty.

While all of our luxury accommodation packages at Singita Boulders Lodge are generally fully inclusive for the duration of your stay and incorporate the costs of all meals and beverages (including premium wines, spirits, and liqueurs), guests should, however, keep in mind that the quoted accommodation rate is subject to several exclusions which will need to be accounted for separately.
These exceptions mainly pertain to purchases of French Champagne, gratuities, or personal expenses, for which guests will need to be personally liable.
What is the breakdown of the suite types, and what are the specific in-room and lodge amenities?

What makes the wine cellar at Singita Boulders Lodge unique, and how can guests purchase special wines?
There are a number of standout features that make Singita Boulder Lodge wine cellar truly unique.
The temperature controlled cellar boasts one of Africa’s most influential wine collections, housing more than 12,000 bottles from not only top tier South African wine estates, but renowned international vineyards as well.
It is said that during its inception, the cellar’s planned construction site was found to be obstructed by an enormous naturally formed boulder. This ultimately led to the decision to build the cellar around the boulder instead, which has now become its trademark feature.
Wine purchasing options:
Guests are most welcome to purchase wines via the Singita Premier Wine Direct program with options of either taking bottles home personally or having them conveniently delivered after their travels.
The program also allows access to limited and highly sought-after wines, including ‘Icons’ and ‘Limited Release’ selections.
What are the logistical details regarding the reserve size, guest capacity, and travel times to the lodge?
The Singita Boulders Lodge can be found perched along the life sustaining Sand River within the sprawling Sabi Sand Nature Reserve located just adjacent to the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
The Sabi Sand Nature Reserve itself stretches across 65,000 hectares of protected bushveld, with guests being given exclusive access to 45,000 acres of this incredible untouched wilderness.
Within the wildlife sanctuary, game drives will typically traverse around 10,500 hectares (26,000 acres) of terrain, with a maximum allowance of 6 guests per safari vehicle, and there are even exciting opportunities for ‘off road’ driving, though this is only permitted for Big 5 sightings.
Travel times to the lodge by car:
- From Skukuza Airport: 1 hour 15 minutes
- From Nelspruit: 1 hour 45 minutes
- From Johannesburg: 6 hours
What specialized activities are offered at the lodge, including the anti-poaching experience, and what is Singita’s commitment to conservation?
Aside from the extremely popular morning and evening wildlife game drives, informative guided safari walks, rejuvenating spa services and swimming, there are also several specialized activities available to enhance guests’ overall safari experience.
Specialized activities include stargazing, boardgames, bird watching, biking, as well as a local cultural tour.
The lodge also promotes its immersive and inspiring ‘Anti-poaching Canine Unit Experience’ for deeper insights into ongoing conservation efforts. To help fund the program, there is a required donation amount of ZAR 3,800 per person, with a capacity limit of 2-6 guests per demonstration.
Conservation and community commitment:
Singita maintains ongoing close ties with the Singita Lowveld Trust (SLT), its nonprofit conservation and community development partner in South Africa.
SLT’s biodiversity projects help protect rhinos, leopards, lions, wild dogs, vultures, and other endangered species in the region. The trust also places a strong focus on community upliftment through tourism and lasting socio-economic development.
